12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari Highlights
The 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari will take you most National Parks in Kenya starting with Samburu National Park, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara National reserve which is known for its wildebeest migration and the BIG 5. You will also visit Lake Naivasha and Amboseli National Park. In Amboseli you will be able to see the clear views of Kilimanjaro Peak and also the Great Rift Valley. After seeing all these, you will be taken to Mombasa where for beach relaxation and leisure with optional excursions around this region.
Day 1 of the 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari: Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport and transfer to Hotel
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Meet and greet assistance by our staff, introduction to your driver guide then you will be briefed about your tour as you are driven to your city Hotel. Overnight stay atNairobi Serena Hotel/ Pride Inn Azure Hotel, Nairobi. Meal Plan: Dinner.
Day 2 of the 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve (5 hours drive)
Depart Nairobi in the morning at 8:00AM-and proceed north across the equator to Samburu National Reserve which is rich in wildlife with fame for abundance in rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx (Also referred as Samburu Special). The reserve is also popular with a minimum of 900 elephants. Large predators such as the Lion, Leopard and Cheetah are an important attraction (Kamunyak the Miracle Lioness that adapted the baby Oryx is a resident in the reserve). Wild dog sightings are also a common attraction to this unique protected area. Birdlife is abundant with over 450 species recorded. Birds of the arid northern bush country are augmented by several riverine forest species. Lesser Kestrel and the Taita Falcon are species of global conservation concern and they both utilize the reserve. You’ll arrive at the Lodge just in time for lunch then proceed to an afternoon game drive. Overnight stay at Samburu Sopa Lodge/ Samburu game lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner.
Day 3 of the 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari: Samburu National Reserve
You’ll spend a full day in Samburu. After breakfast, you’ll go for a morning game drive where you’ll get a chance to spot Beisa Oryx, Gravy’s zebra, blue-necked Somali ostrich and reticulated giraffe. After the game drive return to the lodge for lunch, enjoy the lodge’s facilities then proceed to another game drive with an optional visit to a local Samburu village. Day 4 of the 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari: Samburu National Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park (5 hours drive)
Breakfast then you will be driven to Lake Nakuru National Park which is known for its large population of flamingos in Lake Nakuru and it is one of the Great Rift Valley lakes. So you will have a short stop over at the rift valley which is at an elevation of 1,754 m above sea level for photos. Check-in at your lodge and later have lunch as you wait for your late afternoon and evening game drive. The guide will help you locate Lake Nakuru, the alkaline lake that hosts several bird species and plenty of animal species like Buffalos, White Rhinos, Water Bucks, Lions and Rothschild Giraffes among others. Overnight at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge/ Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve (6 hours drive)
After morning breakfast, head to Masai Mara National Reserve which is located in the south western parts of Kenya and the reserve borders Tanzania forming Serengeti National in the Tanzanian side. It has rich ecosystem with preserved savannah wilderness and the wildebeest traverse its plains during the annual migration. Upon your arrival in the afternoon, you will be served lunch and the evening will be spent on game drive in search of the BIG 5 (Elephants, Lions, Leopard, Buffaloes, and Rhinos with several other animals including Impalas, Gazelles, Wildebeests, Hyenas, Topis, Zebras, Giraffes and hundreds of bird species. Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge/Agamba Mara Lodge/ Mara Simba Lodge Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 6 of the 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari: Masai Mara Game Drive
Have early morning breakfast ready for the morning and late afternoon game drive. The reserve hosts over 450 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds. So the whole day will be spent in viewing the BIG 5 (Elephants, Lions, Leopard, Buffaloes, and Rhino) Also other animal species like Impalas, Gazelles, Wildebeests, Hyenas, Topis, Zebras, Giraffes and hundreds of bird species. The annual Wildebeests Migration from Serengeti to Masai Mara also takes place here between July and October when millions of Wildebeests and Zebras closely trailed by the Big Cats cross the Mara River and roam the reserve’s vast plains in search of greener pastures. Overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge/ Agamba Mara Lodge/ Mara Simba Lodge Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve – Lake Naivasha (4 hours drive)
Morning breakfast and get ready for your transfer to Lake Naivasha, the hotel staff will help you to check-in and have your lunch. Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake in Kenya which derived its name from the local Maasai phrase “Nai’posha” meaning “rough water” because of the sudden storms which can arise. The afternoon will be for boat cruise where you will be able to spot hippos, buffalos, water bucks, impalas, eagles and several bird species that reside in this area from close quarters. Day 8: Lake Naivasha – Amboseli National Park (7 hours drive)
Wake up with a cup of coffee, ready for the drive to Amboseli National Park. It is located in the southern parts of Kenya and it borders Tanzania. The park is well known for its large elephant herds and immense views of Mountain Kilimanjaro. The observation from the park hills offers clear views of Kilimanjaro Peak, swamp, Lake Amboseli and the park plains. The late afternoon will be spent on game drive till evening where you will be able to spot big herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs and hundreds of bird species. Overnight at Amboseli Sopa Lodge/ OlTukai Amboseli Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 9 of the 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari: Amboseli – Taita Hills Salt Lick
Early morning game drives, in this magnificent park, right on the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest in Africa. Early morning there’s a chance of spotting its snows. After which drive to the Lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, drive to Taita Hills Salt Lick. Arrive for lunch at Srova Salt Lick. After lunch game drive in the Sanctuary which is famous for its Elephants, DikDik, Lions, Cheetahs, Water-Bucks, Thompson’s Gazelles, Lesser Kudu, Giraffes, Zebra, Leopards, Antelopes and hartebeests. Overnight stay at Taita Hills Salt Lick or any similar lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner.
Day 10: Amboseli National Park – Mombasa
After breakfast drive to Mombasa, lunch at Voi town. Continue to Mombasa, arriving at Mombasa Serena Hotel where you’re booked on Half Board Basis.Overnight stay at Serena Hotel/ or any other lodge of choice. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner.
Day 11 of the 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari: Mombasa
You have full day to relax at the beach and enjoy the hotel facilities. Optional excursions will be proposed by our representative. These will include Mombasa city tour, Dhow trip, and visit to historic Malindi, visit villages to observe and learn some of the locals’ lifestyle, culture and traditions. Overnight stay at Serena Hotel Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and dinner.
Day 12: End of the 12 Days Best of Kenya Wildlife Safari, transfer to Mombasa
Depending on your international flight schedule from Nairobi, you’ll be transferred to Mombasa airport for your domestic flight to connect on your home-bound flight in Nairobi.
