Day 1 of the 14 Days Best of Rwanda Primate Tracking Adventure: Arrival at Kigali Airport and transfer to the hotel

Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be welcomed by our office representative who will brief you shortly and later transferred to your reserved city hotel. Spend the rest of time at your leisure and relaxation. Dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel/ Chezlando Hotel /Quiet Haven Hotel. Meal Plan: Dinner.

Day 2: Kigali City – Volcanoes National Park (2.5 hours drive)

You will be picked from your place of the stay then transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Volcanoes National Park is located at north-west corner of Rwanda, north of Virunga Mountains and it is famous for Mountain Gorilla and Golden Monkeys.Enjoy the rolling hills for which Rwanda is well known as you proceed to Ruhengeri or Musanze.En route visit of Dian fossey institute and you proceed to your lodge for dinner and Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury), Davinci Gorilla Lodge (Midrange) or at The Garden Place (Budget). Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner.

Day 3 of the 14 Days Best of Rwanda Primate Tracking Adventure: Gorilla Trekking at Volcano National Park

This huge cross-border forest is another home for Mountain Gorilla. It is thought that these Gorillas have created different developments in an isolated environment. You will be briefed from the park headquarters and later you will be escorted by the ranger guides into the park to search for the rare Mountain Gorillas. Watch the Gorillas feeding, playing and so often they are inquisitive. They also spend their time leaping from bamboo branches or frolicking on the forest floor. It can take half or whole day depending the on movement of the Gorillas in the previous day.  Return to the lodge and afternoon will spent at leisure and relaxation. Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury), Davinci Gorilla Lodge (Midrange) or at The Garden Place (Budget).Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 4: Golden Monkey trekking & IbyIwacu cultural experience.

Have breakfast as usual then you will be transferred for briefing and later you will embark on the Golden monkey trekking and so often you will find them playing and swinging on the bamboo tree branches. You will later return to lodge for lunch and afternoon village foot safari, to explore the indigenous local life with a taste of the traditional performance at IbyIwacu cultural center. Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury), Davinci Gorilla Lodge (Midrange) or at The Garden Place (Budget).Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 5 of the 14 Days Best of Rwanda Primate Tracking Adventure: Hike Mount Bisoke

Today, after having your morning breakfast, you will go hiking, to reach the summit of Mount Bisoke, one of the Virunga volcanoes, which is thrilling and rewarding, as it gives you great view of Virunga Mountain ranges as you explore the flora and fauna along the way. You will as well have a chance to observe the stunning view of the Crater Lake on top of the volcano. You will later descend back. Dinner and overnight stay atMountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury), Davinci Gorilla Lodge (Midrange) or at The Garden Place (Budget). Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 6: Visit Musanze Caves & Tour to twin Lakes

Have morning breakfast then you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing before you head off, for cave exploration visit, to explore the beautiful caves of Musanze, this can take roughly 2- 3 hours of visit. You will later return for lunch, before you head off to visit the twin lakes, and explore Lake Bulera and Ruhondo. The lakes are patched with a number of bird species. You will later return and drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury), Davinci Gorilla Lodge (Midrange) or at The Garden Place (Budget).Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 7 of the 14 Days Best of Rwanda Primate Tracking Adventure: Transfer to Gisenyi (2 hours drive)

Today, after having a wonderful breakfast, you will drive back to Gisenyi, with an en route visit to Rosemond Carr house along the way, to hear the beautiful stories of Rose, for her love of the local people, and the country. Visit the beautiful flower gardens and later proceed to Gisenyi to your lodge and catch up with lunch. After lunch, the rest of the time will be spent at leisure. Overnight at Paradise Kivu Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 8: Boat trip on Lake Kivu, coffee tour and transfer to Nyungwe (4.5 hours drive).

After breakfast, go for boat cruise on Lake Kivu. It takes 2 hours on the water. You will explore the beautiful attractions on this Lake. It is also known as a birding haven as it host a number of bird species like the cormorant, pied king fisher’s, weaver birds,common kestrel, African Pied Wagtail, Tropical Boubou, Common Waxbill, spotted Yellow-throated Greenbul, Speckled Pigeons, Chin-spot Batis, Ashy Flycatcher, Cardinal Woodpecker, Bronzed Sunbirds, African Pied Wagtail among others. While on boat, you will proceed to Kimbiri for coffee experience, where you will have coffee tour experience. Later after lunch you will proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The park is composed of Mountain rainforest boarding Burundi and it is known for its famous Chimpanzees. It contains 75 species of mammals and 310 species of birds. Dinner and Overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Midrange) and Gisakura Hotel (Budget).Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 9: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk

After early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the briefing point and you will be escorted in the forest to search for Chimpanzees. Enjoy seeing the closest creatures to human being including the other 12 species of primates inhabiting this park among which include   Owl-faced monkey/ Hamlyn’s monkeyGrey-cheeked mangabey,Red-tailed monkey,L’Hoest’s monkey, Vervet monkey,Olive baboon,Dent’s Mona Monkey and Blue Monkey. Return for lunch as you wait for the afternoon Canopy walk along the 90 meters suspended metallic bridge above the Nugungwe Forest. The walk is guided along a 160 meter bridge along the walk way and it takes 2 hours. The canopy walk offers a great view of the forest and you might be exposed to many other primates along this walkway. Dinner and Overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Midrange) and Gisakura Hotel (Budget).Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 10: Tea plantation visit and Water fall hike

After breakfast, head to Gisakura for a tea plantation visit to explore the beautiful Gisakura tea plantations, and learn about how tea is grown and harvested to production process. Return to the lodge in time for lunch and later you will transfer for the water fall hike where you have chances to talk a cool forest breath hike, and visit a number of waterfalls in the park. Along you can sight some primates and bird species. Dinner and Overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Midrange) and Gisakura Hotel (Budget).Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 11: Nyungwe Forest National Park – Kigali Airport (5.5 hours drive)

Have breakfast early in the morning then your drive guide will drive you to Kigali. You will visit the Royal Palace Museum and Ethnographic Museum in Southern Province, this will give you a great history of traditional ways of living among Rwandans and their past way of leadership of Kingship. The afternoon will be for resting and leisure. Overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel/ Chezlando Hotel /Quiet Haven Hotel.Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 12: Kigali City – Akagera National Park (2 hours drive)

Drive to Akagera National Park, the only savannah national park in Rwanda located in the eastern parts of the country sharing borders with Tanzania. It has rich ecosystems including woodland, swamps, and low mountains which are favorable for various animals. Have a brief game drive on your arrival and after lunch, you will be driven to Lake Ihema located in the southern parts of the park for your afternoon boat cruise. You will be able to see a school of hippos, crocodiles and also buffaloes and elephants on the lake shores. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge or Ruzizi Tented Camp. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 13 of the 14 Days Best of Rwanda Primate Tracking Adventure: Whole Day Game Drive

With a cup of coffee in the morning get ready for the morning game drive. The park consists of over 13,000 mammals including 520 species of birds making it a birding spot. The guide will help you spot the BIG 5 including Elephants, Buffaloes, Lion, Leopard and Rhinos also not forgetting the several antelopes which inhabit this National Park. You Depart along with the packed lunch and later evening there is another encounter for the evening game drive. The game drive takes about 3 hours for each session. Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge or Ruzizi Tented Camp. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Day 14: Akagera National Park – Kigali Airport (2.5 hours drive), End of the 14 Days Best of Rwanda Primate Tracking Adventure.

After your breakfast, you will be driven to Kigali city and have a brief city tour where you will visit the Genocide Museum. The Museum was inaugurated in 2004; the Kigali Genocide Memorial at Gisozi is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi. Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch.
